Dinosaur School

In 2012, Vail Child Care Center was invited to be a part of the “Dinosaur School” program.  The Dinosaur Social Skills and Problem Solving curriculum “is a child training curriculum that strengthens children’s social, emotional, and academic competencies such as understanding and communicating feelings, using effective problem solving strategies, managing anger, practicing friendship and conversational skills, as well as appropriate classroom behaviors” (adapted from The Incredible  Years).  The children meet twice per week and explore the Dinosaur School units with their classroom puppets “Wally and Dina.”  The units cover a variety of topics such as anger management and problem solving which children explore with role playing, games, songs, stories, and analyzing short videos.   This addition to our social emotional curriculum has further prepared our students for their formal educational years.
